Stewart grew up in Wangaratta on the Ovens River avidly golfing, playing soccer and fishing.

He cut his teeth on North East Victoria's prized freestone rivers including the Mitta Mitta, Keiwa, Nariel, Buckland, King, Howqua and Jamieson.

In 2005 Stewart moved to Melbourne where he completed a Bachelor of Science (Environmental) at RMIT. While in Melbourne he became a member of the Southern Fly Fishers club and later the vice president before moving to Tasmania in 2010.

Based in Launceston, Stewart completed his Masters in Applied Science (Aquaculture) with First class honours at the AMC and it is with this same scientific endeavour that he approaches his fly fishing. During the off season you will currently find Stewart in Brisbane where he is undertaking a medical degree.

Fly tying for over 10 years, a look in to his fly box shows he is as passionate about tying as he is about catching fish. Many of his unique patterns, with their mix of ‘fish triggers’ and subtlety, have proven absolute winners on Tasmania’s streams and lakes.

Stewart is a current member of the Australian Fly Fishing Team and represented Australia at the 2016 Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships in Canada, where he finished in 15th place and won a team bronze medal. He is a patient and diligent teacher who enjoys passing on his knowledge.

Stewart's ability to spot fish and his scientific understanding of waterways, food sources and fish behaviour gives you the best chance of maximising your time in the water.

These traits, along with his passion for teaching, enthusiasm and happy nature, make him an excellent guide and ensure that your learning curve will be steep.

'I thoroughly enjoyed my day being guided by Stewart. He is an absolute expert, incredibly patient and great company. I learnt an awful lot from him and even managed to land a couple of large trout, as well as losing several others! It was the experience of a lifetime and I am now working out the soonest possible date that I can return to Tassie. It's such an incredible place and I loved the unique and amazing fishing that I experienced!'
